
The Vives Network is a unique platform with value-added and innovative services for universities in the Catalan-speaking territories, for the entire university community and to society. As an association of universities in growth, through more than 50 concrete lines of work each year, the network becomes the benchmark for the common performance of the universities of Catalonia, Valencian Community, Balearic Islands, Northern Catalonia, Andorra and Sardinia. Its strategic vision is to be the reference network for the joint action of the universities involved.
The network is geared towards the service and its mission is to promote inter-university collaboration and interaction with society, through a network structure based on equity and cohesion among its members. Experience in management and quality and dynamic performance make possible projects in the areas of dissemination of knowledge, cultural activities, academic development, language promotion or international relations.
Since its establishment on 28 October 1994 in the town of Morella (Valencian Community), the association acts on the territory of the Vives region to create a space for coordination of teaching, research and cultural activities , as well as promoting the use and standardization of the language. Currently, the Vives Network has 21 member universities.
The association is the only institution with a uniform presence in all Catalan-speaking territories. The Vives region is distinguished by its social and economic dynamism, and moreover it offers many opportunities for leisure and a wide and diverse cultural offer . With a vast wealth of natural, historical and artistic heritage, the inhabitants of the Vives region are characterized by a very special way of being European, children of the Mediterranean, and open to intercultural understanding. A way of life favored by climate, with over 300 sunny days per year.
General Strategic Objectives
The Network hopes to lead the provision of innovative service and value-added to the member universities and society, and to consolidate the collective representation of universities internationally. Finally, a third strategic objective is to achieve and strengthen understanding and recognition vertebrated by the societies that comprise the influence environment of the network .
